
It’s 100 days in office of Engr. Emmanuel Inyang as the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government and with the quality service so far observed, one can say boldly that it calls for celebration.
The Chairman came on board in October last year with what he called “EMMANCIPATION Agenda” to empower communities, improve infrastructure, advance education, promote agriculture and sustainable growth as well as light up the area.
100 days down the line, Engr. Inyang has not only walked the talk, but has also laid a solid foundation for the actualization of his agenda.
One of the areas of concentration is education. Upon swearing in, the council chairman, accompanied by his wife, Edidiong, visited some schools and distributed learning materials to students.
The gesture was to ensure that Mkpat Enin children have what is required for effective learning and excellent academic results.
Engr. Inyang had gladly announced plans to renovate some dilapidated classroom blocks across the four clans in Mkpat Enin and construct new ones where necessary.
At the moment, he has approved the purchase of JAMB forms for 100 candidates from the area to participate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, while 10 students in various tertiary institutions have benefited from N100,000 each as grants for school fees.

Engr. Inyang believes that the youths of Mkpat Enin cannot get tomorrow’s jobs with yesterday’s skills, hence his commitment to investing in educational sector in order to build capacity and prepare them for a brighter and rewarding future.
Apart from education, another sector Engr. Emmanuel Inyang’s administration has also invested is the facilitation of employment and empowerment programmes through appointments of 56 indigenes as personal assistants and members of special committees.
In the area of road infrastructure, the Mkpat Enin Local Government Chairman last week flagged off the grading of about 40 kilometers of roads across various communities including Ibekwe road through Ikot Mkpeye, Ikot Eda, Ikot Unya, Iffe and Ikot Abasi Obio Nkan with plans to upgrade critical roads such as Ikot Obio Akwa-Ikot Akpe, Timber Market road and major roads within the urban center.
Like it is often said, “health is wealth”, the healthcare of the people of Mkpat Enin is receiving the attention of the grassroots government.
It is on record that few days after his swearing-in, Engr. Inyang flagged off a one-week free eye care services for the people at health centers in Minya, Ukam, Ikot Akpaden and Ikot Akata.
At the end of the exercise, beneficiaries received eyeglasses after careful examination by experts in addition to provision of critical health needs for the local population.

Engr. Emmanuel Inyang has also completed and commissioned Mkpat Enin traditional rulers’ council building, initiated by the immediate past transition committee as a mark of respect for the traditional institution.
The chairman is optimistic that the traditional rulers’ council chambers will serve as a meeting point for the royal fathers to discuss issues concerning development and foster unity among the people.
Other milestones recorded are continuous capacity building for council staff and administrative reforms which saw major improvements in the internal operations of the local government council.
The present administration has initiated critical reforms including policy updates to reflect the realities of governance and improve administrative efficiency with organizational restructuring, streamlining the Council’s departments to eliminate redundancy and ensure improved service delivery.
After many years in darkness due to the vandalism of the community’s transformer, the people of Ikot Oyoro in Ikpa Ibom Clan now enjoy public power supply, courtesy of the intervention by the council Chairman.
In the last 100 days in office, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang has been running an open-door policy which has strengthened relationships with political stakeholders, royal fathers, men, women, and youths. This disposition has helped to provide better understanding of the critical needs of the people.

In the area of security, from inception, there have been robust meetings between the council helmsman, his team and security agencies with the sole aim of protecting lives and property and by extension, maintain law and order in the area.
The first-ever Mkpat Enin Christmas Carols festival held last year which brought together residents of Mkpat Enin, is another landmark achievement of the Emmanuel Inyang administration since the creation of the local government.
The feminine gender is not left out as the Council Chairman has promoted the rights of women and girls through the hosting of the 2024 International Day of the Girl-Child with related empowerement.
In terms of investment for economic growth, Mkpat Enin Local Government has been holding discussions with investors, business owners and tourists and those meetings will sure yield positive results in months to come.

At the thanksgiving service to mark the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, the Mkpat Enin Local Government Chairman had announced plans to give the Nigerian Legion a befitting secretariat in appreciation of the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and fallen heroes and prioritize the welfare of widows and orphans of those who sacrificed their lives so that Nigeria can be free and live in peace.
In deed and words, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang has started on a good note and is striving for excellence. The present administration is thinking out of the box to shore up the Local Government revenue having been conscious of the yearnings and expectations of the people.
With the commitment and dedication to duty in just 100 days in office, a new Mkpat Enin Local Government Area is possible under the administration of Engr. Emmanuel Inyang.
