
The first ever Mkpat Enin Christmas Carols Festival was held Friday night with the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang declaring that Christmas Carols have come to stay in the area, which was created over 35 years ago.

Speaking at the event in Ekong Sampson Unity Hall, Mkpat Enin, Engr. Inyang flanked by his wife, Edidiong promised to engender a new Christ-centered administration, where the tones of peace, humility, love and unity of the people form the binding articles of his engagements.
In the speech entitled “A Grateful Heart of Thanksgiving and Praises” the Council helmsman described Christmas as “a time for cultivating love, kindness and generosity and values that have the potential to create lasting positive change in our lives and the lives of those around us.”
“We must eschew hatred and blackmail in our daily engagements. We must love our culture, our leaders and come to the understanding that, politics will come and politics will go, but Mkpat Enin spirit and blood that flows in us, will endure and bind us forever.”

“I stand here as your Chairman to make a solemn pledge to serve you diligently; to apply the available resources to impact lives and change the trajectory of growth and development of our Local Government Area. We will continue our processes of moving Mkpat Enin forward with community and human capital development programmes and projects. We will continue to run an all-inclusive government that cuts across party lines.” Engr. Inyang said.

He said the people of Mkpat Enin “have a shared destiny in this noble project of making a new Mkpat Enin Local Government Area through my EMMANCIPATION agenda, of planting the seeds of prosperity in our land, where opportunities shall beckon, and our young men and women, earn a living, instead of begging for a living. “
The Mkpa Enin Chairman paid glowing tributes to home-grown artistes including Mkpat Enin-born sensation, Bobby Friga, Larry Sax, Gifthans Uyioata, Bliss Esu, Minister Joe, Eno Williams and Mercy Donald as well as other gospel artistes and choral groups for using their talents to glorify God and making the event an unforgettable experience.

In a sermon on the topic “Give Thanks” Pastor Kenneth Moses of City of Praise Bible Church International, Mkpat Enin, who was the guest minister stressed the need for Christians to imbibe the spirit of thanksgiving and gratitude to God for his bountiful blessings.
The event attracted prominent sons and daughters of Mkpat Enin including the senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson, Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Deaconess Owoidoho Inyangetuk; Secretary of the Council, Hon. Aniedi Ekanem; Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Assets Management and Maintenance Agency, Akparawa Udo Sam Umoatan; State Assistant Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Rt. Hon. Anietie Sunday; as well as former House of Assembly member, Rt. Hon. Otobong Ndem and former Chairman of the Local Government, Prince Anieokpon Ekpo.
