Ukam Community Commends Mkpat Enin TC Chairman Over Laudable Interventions

Village Heads, Youth Presidents and other leaders of the villages in Ukam, have commended the Transition Committee Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Hon. Mercy Bassey, over laudable interventions that have brought stability and peace to the community.

The community leaders, who gave the commendations on Thursday, February 22, 2024, during a courtesy visit on the Chairman, expressed their gratitude to the Transition Committee for restoring peace and order in Ukam market.

Eteidung Obot Uteh Akpan, the village head of Ikot Ediongo Ukam, who lead the team, noted that the recent interventions by the Transition Committee Chairman ensured the end of unnecessary hostility by some persons within the market, adding that Ukam community is a center of trade and should therefore be very peaceful and welcoming.

Others who spoke during the courtesy visit, also thanked the Chairman and the Transition Committee for their timely intervention while declaring their support to the administration.

They appealed that the Transition Committee Chairman should retrieve the generator that was donated to the community by Senator Ekong Samson which was seized by the immediate past Market Chairman, Akanimo Bob Ikpe, barely two weeks after the donation for over two years now.

In her remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon Bassey thanked the community leaders for desiring the best for the community and standing firm to ensure that the right thing is always done, assuring them of the administration’s continuous support.

In his brief vote of thanks, the Council Secretary, Pastor Amos Afia charged the community leaders be law-abiding and continue to support the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno.

Among those on the team were, Eteidung Friday William Akang, village head of Ikot Obong Ukam; Mr. Daniel U. Jack, vice chairman of Ikot Osongotuk Ukam; Mr. Monday Emmanuel Udo, youth president of Ikot Obong Ukam; and Chief Akpan Hanson Ikutt, vice chairman of Ikot Etefia Ukam.

Others were Comrd Dominic Sunday Eden, youth representative of Ikot Osongotuk Ukam; Comrd. Idongesit Enoabasi Ikpe, youth president of Ikot Ediongo Ukam; Comrd. Ime Ufot Jimmy, youth president of Ikot Akpan Ukam; Evang. Mfon-obong Bassey John, youth representative of Ikot Akpabio Ukam; Isuamfon Michael Umoren, Market Chairman, and Obong Emayak Nkanang, Market Assistant.
