MKPAT ENIN SHOWCASES RICH HERITAGE AT AKWA IBOM CHRISTMAS UNPLUGGED
Colour, culture and community pride took centre stage yesterday as the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang, led a vibrant delegation of sons and daughters of Mkpat Enin to this year’s Mkpat Enin Day at the Akwa Ibom Christmas Unplugged festival.
The cultural celebration, held at the Christmas Village along Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, provided a rich platform for the people of Mkpat Enin to display their deep-rooted traditions through music, dance, attire and traditional performances that captivated the audience.
Dressed in colourful traditional regalia, cultural troupes from the local government thrilled spectators with energetic dance steps and rhythmic drumbeats, reflecting the history, values, and communal spirit of the Mkpat Enin people.
Adding prestige to the occasion was a proud daughter of Mkpat Enin and Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Helen Eno-Obareki, who joined in celebrating the cultural identity of her people.
Her presence underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage while promoting unity among Akwa Ibom communities.
Speaking on the significance of the event, participants described Mkpat Enin Day as more than a cultural display, noting that it serves as a reminder of shared history, values and the need to pass indigenous traditions to future generations.
The Mkpat Enin Day celebration formed part of the broader Akwa Ibom Christmas Unplugged programme, an annual cultural and entertainment initiative that promotes tourism, unity and cultural diversity across the State.
As the festivities continue, Mkpat Enin’s colourful outing remains a proud statement of identity, unity, and cultural resilience within Akwa Ibom State.
