SECURITY, EMPOWERMENT TOP AGENDA AS MKPAT ENIN CHAIRMAN HOSTS BUDGET ENGAGEMENT MEETING

The Executive Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang on Wednesday hosted a Stakeholders’ Budget Engagement Meeting at the Council Headquarters in Mkpat Enin.

‎In his remarks, Engr. Inyang expressed concern over the emerging security challenges in the area, stressing that security was a collective responsibility.

He assured that his administration will continue to collaborate with security agencies to curb criminal activities and maintain peace across the Local Government.

The Chairman added that the payment of stipends to the 87 Village Heads and Town Criers was ongoing and reaffirmed his commitment to more empowerment programmes, grants, and the completion of ongoing projects before his second anniversary in office with additional projects.

Former Chairman of the Local Government, Elder Udo Sam Umoatan, commended Engr. Inyang for the projects captured in the budget and appealed for implementation based on priority.

‎Also at the meeting was the representative of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Dempster Udofia, who conveyed the message of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong, commending the Mkpat Enin Chairman’s human capacity development.

‎Director General of the Fiscal Responsibility Board, Mr. Victor Edet highlighted the importance of budget presentation in local government administration in line with the Akwa Ibom State Fiscal Responsibility Act 2020, which mandates full and timely public disclosure of fiscal information.

Leader of the 8th Legislative Council, Hon. Nyakno Ekpo, commended the Chairman for fostering peaceful collaboration between the legislature and the executive and appealed for the rehabilitation of the Assembly Complex.

In their remarks, ‎Secretary, National Council for Women Society (NCWS), Mkpat Enin Chapter, Mrs. Imelda Ibanga; Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Raphael Ataha and Chairman, National Youth Priority, Mkpat Enin, Comrade Umoetuk Umoetuk, commended the Chairman proposed the construction of a bus stop at Ukam, Ibekwe Akpanya for enhanced transport operations and inclusion of more youths and women in the second round of the Chairman’s empowerment.
